NFL '10/'11 Season Thread.

So even Dallas fans hate him?

I wouldn't say all, but yes even Dallas fans hate him. I should have quit being a fan just because of the way he treated the whole Landry situation. Jerry Jones is a giant douchebag. I am a Cowboys fan in spite of who owns the team.

As a Miami fan I have to say I really don't like my owner as well. Stephan Ross has turned out to be a huge idiot in letting all of these celebrities buy parts of the team. Lennifer Lopez can stay but everyone else can leave:D

9ers got Navarro Bowman in the 3rd round last night. Singletary is loving these physical guys. Teams are going to be hurting next year.

I for one approve of what Singeltary is doing. This past season they took some of the elite teams down to the wire. I honestly believe if they had a few more elements last year, they probably could have made the playoffs. We'll see what the old hall of famer has up his sleeve this year though:D

Edwards is a WR/return man/Wildcat not a QB in the NFL.

He was with the WR at the combine and ran a damn 4.2:eek:
is faster than Chris Johnson.

Carolina doesn't need a wildcat. They have the best running game in the league. They need a QB to rip apart the secondary. Get Steve Smith the ball. Some hack wildcat QB isn't going to do that. Waste of a pick if you ask me. Especially considering the loss of Peppers.

And even if you want to justify the pick of a speedy wildcat option kinda player, whats the deal with Tony Pike? Backup for when Clausen fails??

remember many of these Carolina picks may have been drafted for the next gm and coach as both guys are currently on one year deals. that said it's not like Matt Moore exactly strikes fear in anybody Clausen makes sense Pike is either devlopmental or for trading purposes lduring traing camp

Just some random thoughts about my team DA RAIDUHS!

I am thinking that Al Davis allowed Tom Cable and his personnel staff to run this draft. They proved to him that athletes and combine stars can be taken in the later rounds and that your first few picks should be based off of production and experience. I am 100% confident that Jacoby Ford and Bruce Campbell were in Al Davis' top 5 on his draft board. Well, we got them anyways...just not as early as he probably would have taken them. I have to admit that I got nervous when it appeared as if we were putting all of our chips in one bag with Rolando McClain, then we got him help by taken DL Lamarr Houston and another blue-collared type LB in Travis Goethel (I think he'll be another Greg Biekert.) Keeping Thomas Howard is a huge plus, he's our most athletic defender and can play in any scheme, I would line him up next to McClain whenever we go 3-4. When we added the depth in the secondary late in the draft, it was evident that our team was drafting for need, Stanford Routt will now have somebody pushing him for the Nickel spot. I feel comfortable going forward with the Defense now.

Offensively we addressed the most serious position, OT. I think Veldheer will be the starting RT for years to come and in a perfect world Campbell would become the starting LT in 2 years. We now have depth on the edges, something that proved to be an issue when injuries struck. Jacoby Ford gives the OC and ST a sparkplug, he should mesh well with the other ahtletes on the team. For now, Center and RG are still pressing needs. Veldheer is very similar to Gallery in terms of body structure and can slide inside to RG if Barnes stays healthy and starts at RT. Satele is still very young and should be healthy all the way thru camps and OTAs so he could still end up being our Center for the future...so we do have options, something we didn't have before.

I'm not so drunk on the Kool Aid to think we are a playoff caliber team. All I'm saying is that for once in a very long time, I'm happy with Oakland's draft.

The person Carroll picked was better anyhow.

Even discounting that for a moment why the hell should Mays think it's was Carroll's job to develop a system that gets him into as high a draft pick as possible instead of what he thought would maximizes the chances of USC to win games? Carroll's job was to coach USC football not get players being as high a draft pick as they could be or getting as big of contract in the NFL as possible.

You didn't read the story did you? It's the woulda/shoulda/coulda game all over--"If I came out as a Junior I would've been top 10 like the 'experts promised' and instead I listened to Coach Carroll who said I had things to work on, could help out the team, be the star, blah blah blah". It's like the reverse Mark Sanchez situation. Would Sanchez be Top 3 pick if he stayed a year and listened to Carroll  -- doubtful, SC stunk it up this year and Sanchez would've maybe been late 1st round? Although this year's QB class really wasn't thought very highly of by the NFL so who knows :dunno:

I don't know if Earl Thomas will be better than Mays. Maybe, maybe not? Maybe he will be the next Michael Huff?

I don't know why Mays is bitching though. His coach is nicknamed "The Samurai" and he plays in maybe the most prestigious NFL franchise other than the 'Boys. It seems to me like it worked out okay for Mays. So he takes a paycut his first year. The 9ers will be ripping up that contract midyear if he turns out as good as I ;) think he will be:eek:

Jason Campbell. Yay, another average quarterback. Because Aaron Brooks and Daunte Culpepper and Kerry Collins worked out so well.

I hear ya and I feel you pain, but just look at what we have right now. Russell, Boeller, Frye, and Gradkowski (still counts even though he's out right now). Yes Campbell is average, but look at how the Raiders did under Gradkowski the last few games before he went down. He's a marginal player at best. It's a sad state of affairs when average is something to get excited about, but that's where we are in the Nation.:(

Mays will get the last laugh when he helps the 9ers become the scariest D in the league.

Yes, but to blame Carroll for that you would have to assume he was psychic and he knew beforehand USC or at least Mays would under-perform this year. Still, even Mays said that he thought he was a better player for it, so it wasn't like what Carroll said was totally faulty. He just didn't get drafted as high as he would have liked. Maybe that increase in skill and what he learned will help him in the long run more than the draft slide will. Even then you have to take into account there probably isn't a collegiate coach (or at least more than a very small handful) that wouldn't want their star players to come back for another year and encourage their them to do so.

As far as people thinking they have a guaranteed high draft spot, unless they are one of the top couple of people in the country it's never a guarantee. There were people that thought Clausen would be a top 10 pick also. How did that go?

Carolina runs the wildcat with our running backs now. Armanti Edwards will be a WR that occasionally runs the wildcat. Steve Smith pretty much personally blessed that pick.

Pike is to be Clausens backup cause Matt Moore probably won't be in Carolina much longer since we drafted our franchise QB.

Fuck Peppers. We got good DEs and we drafted one the was considered first round talent before he got injuried.

I just wanna say that 49 of the players taken in this draft were from the SEC. . . . .so ummm....yeah, eat it:thefinger The SEC once again shows its dominance over college football with 4 consecutive national championships and having the most players drafted from a conference since 1991...WOOT!
