Dear Laurie there is nothing you create that I do not love I love everything. I’m 70 years old and spend my days looking at your RUclips my favorite is chicken salad I’m on a fixed income so I can’t afford it but I absolutely love it thank you for being there Gayla
I just purchased a Cook Book fat quarter bundle off Etsy. I am so excited to get started with my project using this fabric. I love watching your videos but am fairly new here. When I searched for Cook Book fabric this video popped up. To my surprise, today is February 12, 2025, and this video was on February 12, 2022!! Thanks for your videos and your beautiful fabric lines!!
This is my first quilt to do with you, I had to pre-order my fabric and I was going to make it for my sister because she loves chickens but she passed away just a few weeks after I lost my husband. So I will think of her every time I work on the quilt I love your fabric
I am sorry to read of your two loses😞. You will remember all the good times with your sister whilst makes this quilt. It looks such a jolly one. Stay safe. Sending you my support and best wishes from UK
Bless your heart I am so sorry for your losses. You have picked an awesome pattern and fabric to make. These boys and girls will make you very happy! Happy stitching. By the way quilting and piecing helps your heart when it broken. My heart has been healed over and over when I quilt. 💞❤️❤️💖
Hi Lori, my hubby bought me the fat quarter bundle for valentines! I am so HAPPY! My 1st one. You are one of my FAVORITE designers!!! God bless you in all you do! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Had to watch yhis again. I get so excited about the chickens. I'm crossstitching them now so I think I'll have to go to quilting them. I love to watch you and your methods❤❤❤
I am loving your patterns, ideas and fabrics. I am also having difficulty finding the Riley Blake and your line here in central Nebraska. Just got my very own featherweight last month!! Then found a vintage iron. So excited!!! Thank you for showing beautiful things. Tidbit of trivia: I am a cousin to Dolly Parton!!
Hello Mary Sue! If you cannot find my fabrics in your local quilt shop, ask them to order it for you from Riley Blake or you can always purchase it from an online quilt shop or from Etsy. I admire Dolly and that's so fun that you are cousins ❤
Mary Sue, God sure blessed you with Dolly! She also blessed me years ago when my 9 yr. old daughter while climbing a tree fell 35 feet as branch broke resulting in open fractured left femur. Confined to bed in skeletal traction for a month listening to Dolly was her best medicine especially during daily X-RAYS & adjustments of weights (usually 40#)on the 2 pins through her leg. When this treatment was deemed futile, she was placed in a body cast. She chose a neon colored striped material because Dollys coat of many colors was her favorite song. She had to endure 3 months of this inactivity & could not even sit up when out of cast. She credits Dolly for encouragement & inspiration to endure painful & difficult recovery. (Discovered year later that right tibia had also been fractured & healed untreated). I still thank God for Dolly's help!!!
Wow nice seeing this tonight. I so love all your vintage quilts. I have a huge stack to keep me busy. Thank you for all that you share with us. Makes it so much easier.
Lori, The last video you did with Kimberly (I think it was a week ago) I wanted to tell you how pretty you looked. Thanks for sharing all your creative projects.
Just binge watched a lot and staying current .....one word on it all WOW....well can't get project bag panel☹️No one has it anymore.....but I will try the sewing machine quilt in honor of my grandma😔She was a sewer ❤️Thank you for your inspiration
Oh wow Lori, love everything about these blocks! Loved the hens, then you showed us the Rooster!!! Loved him! Thanks for all the cute stuff you teach and for the great tutorial. You're incredible! I don't know how you do it all.
Hi Lori... I didn't know how to go about combining piecing, applique and embroidery. I've never embroider. Thank you for teaching in such a way it's easy to understand. Just recently discovered you and your fabric lines. Love the different fabrics! In my 70's pushing 80. Never to old to learn!😊
Lori, a million thanks for having no irritating background music, thank you for getting right to the point, and thank you so much for being the very best teacher on the internet. I too am a farm "girl" at 76. Chickens rule.
Lori I hope you SEE this. I just came back to this or any of your videos to calm myself down. Thank you! Besides practical you are helping me be a little more rational gal. So extra thanks beyond quilting! ☺️
You are the best teacher ever! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video! So many good options. Percy at the end is amazing! Thank you! I might just need to try an appliqué chicken now.
You are a wonderful teacher in all your seeing craft tutorials. I look forward to watching and participating in your class on u tube. I use tube so from my cell phone I can put it directly on my big screen.❤️
Lori, thank you for such clear and easy instructions for cutting , sewing, and turning the appliqué pieces. You are an excellent teacher and make me feel the joy and excitement I first experienced in home ec classes over 50 years ago. Lifetime skills!
I love the Clover turning tool, also, and use it so often! I wish they would consider some fun Lori Holt colors: aqua, pink, butter yellow. :) Thank you, Lori, for your patience in teaching your applique technique. It's now my preferred method!
Thank you for sharing your videos, you motivate me to continue sewing. Like how easy you explain things, like your tone of voice, it’s peaceful and I enjoy that. 🧵
I love your chickens, Lori & I’m not even a chicken person!! Each one has so much personality. I’m hooked. I think I will make my favorites into pillows for my kitchen bench & possibly a table runner. Thank you for creating such beautiful fabrics & creative appliqué designs. They bring me so much joy. You inspire me so much & have enriched my life. Thank you for all that you do & for sharing it with us. Happy Valentine’s Day!💕 Susan Weston
Sittin here sewing up the “Grandmas Luncheon” table runner, and CANNOT WAIT to start this project! Thanks for sharing your love of creating with all of us. I wouldn’t be the quilter, or have the love for fabric that I do today - if it wasn’t for you!
I love all ur work and ur videos, even though I’m not as skilled at quilting as you. I enjoy watching them… u have such a wonderful imagination and so much talent thankyou
Just adorable and this tutorial made me think yes I can do it. I love the names of the chickens. I have 5 chickens Ruby, Snow, Gertie, Saphire and Topaz. The fabrics are so perfect you did a great job and I really think I will have to make a runner with the chicks and eggs for Easter. Thank you for sharing your time and creativity.
Oh Lori this is so stinkin cute! Can’t wait to get started! I’m working on a sampler quilt right now using FGV and FGV2 quilt blocks for my sister’s 70th birthday quilt. I have to get it to the LA before I start anything thing else. Thank you and I have learned so much from watching you and your books! Keep it coming!! ❤️🐔🐥
I’m looking forward to working on the pieced version. The Cook Book fabric takes me back many years when I cooked and sewed with my Grammy. When we visited my other Grammy in WI, she made home made bread and jam. I’ve picked out a bunch of blocks that reminded me of them both. This will be an awesome remembrance quilt. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.
Hi Lori. While driving home today, I had a moment. Thinking about this video where you say, ‘it’s like driving, slowing down around the curves”. If I drive like I sew 🧵, my neighborhood would have quite a few mailboxes down. Lol I really love that you said that. Because now I’m definitely more focused on my sewing line. 💕❤️💕 I absolutely love your teaching. I’m starting my Hattie chicken today been trying to start since 2/14. 💕❤️💕
Just found your chicken quilt and I'm excited to get started. Funny, I have the exact same red truck as you! It was a childhood treasure and I have it on my desk. Truck soulmates!!

Thank you! Love these chickens!!!! Lori, you are so creative! You are the me that I want to be. One suggestion, I would sew the eye buttons on with white thread/floss to simulate the sparkle of the eye.
This is definitely my favorite fabric you have ever created!!! I love all of it and I am so happy I bought it. I don't love chickens even though yours are super cute. I need to figure out something else to make with it. I wrote that before this video was over and now I see you are going to make the second quilt. Thank you! I shall make it with you. Yes, chapstick is a necessity at all times. Never am I without it. Thank you as always for the inspiration!
